As iron sharpens iron, so one sharpens another. That's the whole idea — two days in the woods with the people who do that for you.
Bring your son. Bring your daughter. Bring your friends. Thirty 3D targets, a mile of Ohio timber, and no screens for the length of the course.
"As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another."
Proverbs 27:17A kid learns what character looks like by standing next to it. Not in a lecture — on a trail, in the cold, drawing a bow they aren't quite strong enough for yet, while someone who loves them waits and says again.
Grown-ups learn the same way. You become the people you spend your Saturdays with, and most of us never choose them on purpose — we just drift toward whoever's convenient. This is a weekend to choose better, and to bring the friends who make you better along with you.
So the Jamboree puts all of it in one place on purpose. Thirty targets through the woods. Fathers with sons and daughters, friends with friends, families from a dozen churches and towns walking the same course — sharpening each other the way the proverb says we're supposed to.
Every year we shoot for a cause bigger than the weekend. The cause changes. The mission doesn't.
A mile of woods. Thirty targets. Conversations you'd never have at home.
We're excited to get this annual event up and going. Year one comes with real overhead — new targets, course setup, everything it takes to build something worth coming back to every year. It's a lot to start, but we think it's worth it.
Our hope is that everything beyond that startup cost goes toward Bible translation work in Southeast Asia. There are still people today who don't have Scripture in their own language — and this year's Jamboree is our small part in helping change that.
